FAQs
1. What is balayage?
Balayage is a technique used to apply highlights to the hair in order to get a graduated, natural-looking effect. Instead of using foils like with traditional methods, balayage highlights are hand-painted on and blend in gradually to give your hair a sun-kissed, multi-dimensional finish.
2. How long does a balayage appointment take?
The length of time a balayage appointment takes depends on the desired effect and the length of your hair. On average, it can take anywhere between 2 – 3 hours.
3. How long does balayage last?
Balayage can last up to 3 or 4 months before you have to get it touched up, but that also depends on your haircare routine and color protection after treatment as well as the natural oils your scalp produces, which are different for everybody. Plus, how much sun/salt/chlorine exposure you plan on having.
4. What products are used for balayage?
The dye that is used during balayage is normally semi-permanent and developed in such a way as to achieve a natural finish. It’s also usually ammonia-free, which means it is not as strong or harsh on the hair and scalp.
